About Onell

Born: June 14, 2014

My name is Onell and I live in Nicaragua, a country known for its vibrant culture but also for its deep poverty. My father left to find work in Costa Rica and sends support when he can. My mother does her best but she cannot support our family alone. I am new to the Hope Project and am enjoying all of the activities.

Leon, Nicaragua

Léon is the second largest city in Nicaragua. The country is considered the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of its people live on less than $2 a day and the infant mortality rate is 25%. Years of war between the Sandanistas and the Contras combined with failed government policies have severely hindered their economic development. Project Hope Worldwide is holistically caring for orphans, partnering with schools, supplementing medical care, and providing spiritual and character mentorship, in one of the poorest areas of Léon.
