About Yaser

Born: April 17, 2011

My name is Yaser and I live in Nicaragua, a country known for its vibrant culture but also for its deep poverty. I live with my mother and two little sisters Dayanita and April, who are also at the project. I am doing well in school and love to draw. You can always find me wherever there is a group of children playing outside.

Leon, Nicaragua

Nicaragua is a blend of vibrant indigenous cultures and Spanish influence. Just outside of Nicaragua’s second largest city of Leon lies a forgotten community of displaced people called Tomas Borge barrio. Once the city dump the residents of the barrio live in makeshift homes from bits and fragments they’ve collected. These people have suffered from generational poverty due to rebel violence, and limited employment opportunities to sustain even their basic needs
