Project Hope Worldwide Responds to Urgent COVID-19 Need with “Giving Hope From Home Campaign”, Joining #GivingTuesdayNow in Global Day of Giving and Unity

Last Updated: April 28, 2020

Project Hope Worldwide (PHW) is responding to meet the needs of orphans and vulnerable children in its Uganda, Nicaragua and Mexico Hope Projects affected by COVID-19. PHW is banding together with advocates, friends, and the community for their “Giving Hope From Home” campaign to raise funds to offset the increasing costs caused by the pandemic.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday. It’s an emergency response to the unprecedented worldwide need caused by COVID-19. #GivingTuesdayNow is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, PHW was already serving orphans and vulnerable children in some of the most hopeless places on earth. From the remote bush in Uganda, to the desolate valleys in Mexico, and to a reclaimed trash dump in Nicaragua, PHW has established Hope Projects to care for these children.

In addition to the pandemic, these areas are being hit even harder with economic unrest, fear and lack of resources. PHW recently received a number of pledges matching up to $17,000 for the “Giving Hope From Home” campaign to amplify the #GivingTuesdayNow contributions. This generous matching gift has the potential to multiply into $34,000 to help offset the increasing costs caused by the pandemic.

At a time when we are all experiencing this pandemic, generosity is what brings caring people together across the globe. Generosity gives everyone power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act upon. It’s a day for everyone around the world to stand together and give back in all ways, no matter who we are, where we are, or how much we can give.

PHW invites you to stand together and maximize your impact restoring hope to these vulnerable children. “We are always humbled by the gracious response of people everywhere to care for the vulnerable children in our Hope Projects and believe #GivingTuesdayNow will be no exception,” said Lyndon Becker, PHW President and CEO.
