Abandoned by their father in their early years , Leo Gerardo and Juan’s lives grew increasingly difficult when their mother passed away a few years ago. Since then they have been living with their grandmother, Berta, in a small enclosure where they all sleep in the same bed. Berta’s dream is for the boys to complete an education and find work outside of the factories so they have a chance of supporting themselves.

IMG_8637The family is often relegated to eating a meal a day and lack adequate clothing. Despite their struggles,  Berta continues to encourage them in the Lord’s provision and the importance of never letting their dreams go.  She often resorts to begging in the streets to provide what she can for the boys.

Project Hope Worldwide’s child sponsor program will ensure the boys have the five essentials for life. An adequate home; food/clothes; access to a quality education; medical care and spiritual/character mentorship until the boys are 18. With your help, these boys and Berta will experience the Lord’s provision and hope to keep their dreams alive.

“ I desire for them to grow up and become somebody. I don’t have much to give them, but when God calls me to give account I want to be able to say that I put them on the right track. So that in the future they don’t have to say that they couldn’t go to school or do anything because their mom passed and they didn’t have anyone to take care of them.  I don’t want for that to happen to them. Even if I sometimes have to beg for money I want to be able to say that I did everything I could.” – Berta
