As it would be discovered later, tornados were threatening Oklahoma City and the Tulsa County areas, hundreds of enthusiastic runners participated in the 2nd Annual Orphan Run in a strong display of community and commitment to a great cause. All proceeds from this event will go directly to building more homes for orphans in Northern Uganda where the people are still trying to overcome 23 years of terror and war at the hands of Joseph Kony and the LRA.

“The orphanage in Uganda, which also has developed a school, a medical clinic and a community development center is currently impacting the lives of over 10,000 people in this District” says Project Hope Worldwide President Derk Madden. Our approach is highly relational and development focused. We partner with local government, tribal leaders and nationals to address the issues of orphans, education, food and water, health, and mentoring. Our donors are excited to see the difference we are making and also to know that 100% of their contributions go directly to our projects. We are able to say this due to the level of our Board giving and local corporate partners” Madden reports.
This past week the lightening held off until just after the event allowing hundreds of supporters to come out raising thousands of dollars for orphans worldwide.
